There is an excellent article in today’s Wall Street Journal. It explains how the rift between social conservatives (those passionately against abortion, gay marriage, stem cell research, etc) and fiscal conservatives is increasing – to the point that social conservatives are threatening not to support the GOP presidential nominee and maybe even form their own party.
I for one would be grateful if that would happen.
Let’s keep our fingers crossed! Then the GOP can get back to what it traditionally was, a small government, fiscally conservative, socially moderate party. Something many people can actually identify and agree with.
